I have been involved in transporation my entire life as my father was an executive with a transportation company. After working on the docks of various motor carriers to help pay for college and law school, I was recruited out of law school to start-up the Law Department with Roadway Express in Akron, Ohio. With two other attorneys, we grew Roadway Express from a LTL carrier with $1 billion in revenues to a very diversified transportation company with $5 billion in revenues. Leaving my in-house law practice in 1996, I moved to Houston to start a private practice transportation practice group. I am the co-chair of the Transportation Practice Group at Lorance & Thompson with eight attorneys spending the majority of their docket on transportation issues. I have been very fortunate in developing my private practice. I have been selected as a "Super Attorney" in Transportation since 2009 to 2013 (Thomas Reuters) and designated "AV Preeminent" by Martindale-Hubbell. Originally a member of their Transportation Panel, I have been added to the AAA's Commercial and Employment Panels. I also have served as an arbitrator with FINRA (formerly known as NASD Dispute Resolution) since 2005. In addition to serving as an arbitrator, I am frequently serve as an advocate for my clients in pursuing or defending claims before arbitration panels.
